One of the greatest place to visit in Belgium is The citadel of Namur. You can enjoy the wonderful view from above of the city of Namur. Also there are a fantastic free museums, and restuarants where you can enjoy a cup of coffee or a belgian beer.
The citadel of Namur is divided into three parts Donjon, representing the lower part, Median for the intermediate part and Terra Nova for the upper part. Its summit is 190 m high.
Built on an impressive rocky spur, this exceptional heritage site has conserved traces of each period of its 2000-year-old history. Once a residence for the Counts of Namur in the Middle Ages, then transformed into a holiday home by King Leopold II, it is now a sought-out location for events, guided visits and walks in a verdant surrounding with spectacular views over the city.

THE “TERRA NOVA” VISITOR’S CENTRE
Situated in the ancient barracks of Terra Nova, the Visitor’s Centre is a must-see before embarking on your journey. You will discover 2000 years of urban and military history alongside the history of Namur and its Citadel, thanks to a dynamic and educational set up.

Aside from the new Visitor’s Centre, several guided tours are available:
Underground tour: New guided tour with scenography ! Venture into the heart of “Europe’s Termite Mound” and explore the longest underground passages of the Old Continent, which lay within a Citadel.
Visit the area by tourist train: Make the most of this guided tour and admire the magnificent panoramic views of Namur.
