This is 'Hawa Mahal'. In Hindi language 'hawa' means 'air' and 'mahal' means palace. It was constructed by maharajah Sawai Pratap Singh on the year 1799. Due to the 'parda pratha', women were not allowed to go public, without face covering. That's why this palace is made, so that royal women could see rituals on the street, from palace itself. The building was constructed in such a way that women could see the rituals but from outside no one could see them. Due to that the palace has so much air inside that, hence the name 'hawa mahal'.
The architect of this palace was Lal Chand Ustaad who uses ventury effect (part of fluid dynamics) to this building.
The palace is maintained by Government of Rajasthan, India.
