[Portugal Adventure] Bye bye Lisbon, Hello Lagos! [Good food = Happy Peter]

in #travel7 years ago (edited)

HI FELLOW STEEMIANS

Today was the day I say goodbye to Lisbon. It's been a great couple of days here and I feel like I've grown fond of the city while I've been here. I've eaten my fill and I've seen what the city has to offer and I have to say that it is one of the more beautiful cities that I have been to.

This post will include my last couple of meals in Lisbon and how I made my trip down here to Lagos.

Restaurante Cabacas

Just off a busy road is this restaurant that from the outside looks like any other doorway on the dark and empty street. However, inside is a bustling with people and food with almost no space to walk around. The restaurant serves both meat and fish with enough variety to make you want to come back over and over.

The dishes themselves were simple. But, as people always say simple is best. The flavours were pure and the key ingredient of each dish was clear.
NOTE: They provide salami, cheese and bread in the beginning. But, if you eat them you have to pay for them! If you don't want any then you can just tell the people that you would like it cleared.

TOTAL PRICE: 24 Euros

White Sangria

Octopus Rice: Not very aesthetic but very tasty!

Veal on a hot plate(it also comes with potato chips)

TIP! Can put your chips on the hot plate to heat them up :)

Churrasqueira da Paz

This restaurant similar to the one above has a very average doorway. In addition, this restaurant is hidden in a quiet street with not many people or cars. This is just an added benefit for you since you have a higher chance of getting into this beautiful place! It appears to be run by an old couple who have been doing this for longer than I've been alive.

They offer an assortment of meat and fish dishes which all seem to have only the best ingredients used. The chef cooks the food practically right in front of you behind the counter on a big grill that has soft tendrils of smoke coming out of it. It is also very reasonably priced which made the meal that much better!

TOTAL PRICE: 22.5 euros

Look at the food smoke!

Cute little jug for the house wine

Mixed grill

Horse Mackerel

Salmon steak

Getting to Lagos

The trip to Lagos involves a 3.5 hr bus ride from the Sete Rios bus station in Lisbon. I recommend that you buy the ticket online because its cheaper by about 5% and it guarantees you a spot on the bus. If you go there and buy the ticket there is a chance that they will not have any spaces left for you which would be a disaster!

The tickets can be found on this site and it includes all the buses that you might need while you are in Portugal!

Tomorrow I get to check out Lagos! So excited because I've heard great things about the town. Will share it with Steemit once I check it out so tune in again :)

Excellent post. Portugal is one country to which I have never managed to go. It sounds amazing and the food looks terrific. Upvoted, keep them coming, mate.

Portugal was always on my list of countries to go to and I'm so happy I came!
It really was amazing and I think I didn't have any food that I didn't like.
Thanks for visiting and hope you have a good day :)
