[Croatia Adventure] A climb up a spiral staircase and trek to see over Split feat. a very chubby me!

HI FELLOW STEEMIANS

Steemit, let me take you to Croatia.

Have you ever dreamed about visiting the Mediterranean and drifting around in azure waters on a hot sunny day, while enveloped in the shade of ancient city walls?

If so, Croatia is the place that can turn them into reality.

The first thing that will surprise you is the clarity of the water against the dazzling white pebbly beach. It sparkles like a jewel with a thousand shades of emerald and sapphire. The long beaches are perfect for lazy days and hungry times as you sit in small restaurants to devour fresh seafood. On active days, there's snorkeling, diving, windsurfing, sailing and kayaking and many more other things to do to keep you busy.

Croatia has something for everyone.

The first town I visited in Croatia was Split, where the old meets the new.

Split is Croatia's second largest city, its always buzzing with activity and a place where tradition meets modernity. Buildings that have stood for hundreds of years like the UNESCO World Heritage site, Diocletian's Palace, stand right next to restaurants and bars that have everything that people of this day and age need.

In this post, I'll give you the details of Dicoletians Palace and a hike up to the top of Park Marjan.

Diocletian's Palace

Diocletian's Palace is an ancient palace built for the Roman Emperor Diocletian at the turn of the 4th century AD, and today it has turned into part of the old town of Split. While it is referred to as a "palace" because it was intended to be Diocletian's retirement residence, it more resembles a large fortress: about half of it was for Diocletian's personal use, and the rest housed the military garrison.

Park Marjan

The famous hill in Park Marjan has a special place in the life of the city and can be said to be the symbol of Split with the Croatian flag flying at the highest point.

The hilly nature reserve has fragrant pine forests and scenic lookouts, medieval chapels and cave dwellings. If you want a little break from the city setting then this is the place to come for an interesting hike!

This is only a small aspect of Split and I was short on time so I couldn't take more pictures of the rest of the city. There are still so many things that I could include if I just had the time. Be sure to visit to see what I didn't include!

Next up is the beautiful city of Hvar!

I would really love to be there someday

It's a great place to see over Split and if the weather is good the nature is extra appealing!

Grest post, thanks for sharing. My partner’s family is from Croatia so it is definitely one of the top places we want to visit. Members of her family travel thereby often and always return with amazing stories and pictures.

The history there is incredible and it looks like you really soaked it all in. What was your favourite part of the trip?

Travel is a great way to get to know more about the world and its awesome that they share them with people!
My favourite would have to be in Dubrovnik when we took the cable car to the top and looked down on the city :)

I am incredibly jealous. That sounds amazing!

Highly recommend to take the trip sometime when you can :)

Nice post I am looking forward to reading your post about Hvar!

I'll be sure to post it soon!

Really Great post bro. I had the pleasure of visiting Split late last year and thoroughly enjoyed my time there. Thanks for sharing
