Hey guys. Looking for your next vacation destination...how about checking out the Cayman Islands. The Cayman Islands has some of the most beautiful beaches in the world. You cannot believe how clear the ocean is until you actually experience it for yourself. Once you are in the Cayman Islands be sure to check out Stingray City.
Stingray city is in the shallow waters of the northwest corner of Grand Cayman's North Sound. You need to travel out a bit of a distance in order to get to Stingray City. The excursion I signed up for included a jet ski ride to Stingray City instead of taking a boat.
Upon arrival you will instantly be met by groups of sting rays. They are very docile and will come right up to you. The tour guides will get the attention of one first and prep you on how to handle the stingray.
Once the tour guide has a stingray's attention, he will give you a piece of squid. This is used to feed the stingray. You don't want to hold onto the squid with your thumb, the stingray may confuse your thumb for the squid and try to swallow your thumb. Once you feed the stingray, you can hold on to it with no problems.
If you're up to it, you can even get a back massage from the stingray. The bottom of the stingray is super smooth. The top feels a bit like sandpaper.
After we left Stingray City, our excursion took us to an area where we could snorkel. Plenty of coral and wildlife to be seen. After the snorkeling was finished, it was back on the jet skis and back to land. I highly recommend checking out Stingray City. Hope you enjoyed.
