Story about devil`s figure on the devil`s stone / Історія про постать чорта на брилі чорта

In December 2017 I was in the lovely city of Lubeck is a city of land subordination in the North of Germany, in the South-East Schleswig-Holstein. The port on Lubezki Bay of the Baltic Sea. There are many interesting places and stories, but most of all I was struck by one sculpture and its history.

В грудні 2017 року я потрапив до прекрасного міста любек - це місто земельного підпорядкування на півночі Німеччини, на південному сході федеральної землі Шлезвіг-Гольштейн. Порт на березі Любецької бухти Балтійського моря. Там багато цікавих місць та історій, але найбільше мене вразила одна скульптура та її історія.

Near St. Mary's Cathedral I saw one sculpture, and immediately started to search information about it and its history.

Поблизу собору святої Марії я побачив одну скульптуру, і одразу почав шукати інформацію про неї та її історію.

The legend of the stone of the devil:

When the Church of St. Mary has just started to build devil thought it would be a tavern. He liked this idea because he knew that people who have an addiction to alcohol will sooner or later fall to him. So he was lost in the crowd and began to help the workers. Not surprisingly, the building became higher and higher with incredible speed. However, once the devil found out what this building would be. Full of anger he grabbed a huge boulder to destroy the wall that was already built. He was flying in the air next to it when a bold man shouted: "Stop it, devil! Leave the walls that are already built! For you, we will build the tavern next to it." The devil really liked this idea. He threw a block near the walls, where it lies until today. It is still possible to see traces from the devil`s claws. And directly opposite the workers built the wine cellar at the town hall.

Коли перші цегли церкви св. Марії були покладені, чорт подумав, що це будують винарню. Йому сподобалась ця ідея, тому що багато душ вже знайшли свій шлях до нього саме через часте відвідування подібних місць. Тому він загубився в натовпі і почав допомагати робочим. Не дивно, що споруда ставала все вищою і вищою з неймовірною швидкістю. Проте одного дня чорт таки дізнався чим буде ця споруда. Повен злості він вхопив величезну брилу, щоб зруйнувати стіни, які вже були збудовані. Він уже летів поряд в повітрі, коли сміливий чоловік гукнув до нього: "Зупинись, чорте! Залиш уже зведені стіни! Для тебе ми збудуємо поруч винарню". Чорту дуже сподобалась ця ідея. Він вкинув брилу поруч зі стінами, де вона лежить до сьогодні. На ній досі можна побачити сліди від кігтів чорта. І прямо навпроти робочі побудували винний погріб у міській ратуші.

Поки ми оглядали цей величезний собор і читали про скульптуру непомітно настав вечір, але нічого страшного він лише додав різдвяного настрою
