About 320 miles has brought us to Iowa, Louisiana. We had warm weather and sunshine for the entire trip, though it was a little windy.
We took the I10 most of the way, using route 12 to avoid New Orleans. The road is in fair shape until Lafayette where there is construction. Just before the construction there is a 20 mile bridge over a swamp. At one point there were boats in the median.
The Louisiana welcome center was amazing with free coffee and friendly staff who took time to answer my questions about alligators and dig up brochures on the Creole Nature Trail which we'll be starting tomorrow. The lady who helped me even asked some local DOT people to join the conversion and share their alligator experiences.
We have stopped for the night at an RV Park, Cypress Bend, that shares a space with a McDonalds and Shell station and next door to a Sonic. It is full hook up so we can fill the water tanks and empty the others before we go off grid tomorrow. We bought groceries too, so we won't starve.
Now for the next
