Looking for some downtime to connect, clean and chill, we have landed in Dauphin Island, Alabama for a week. I was informed when making reservations that there wasn't much going on in the area and that has proven to be true.
There were a couple of surprises on check in, the first being the public beach across the street charges $2 per person for access between 8AM and 5PM. The second is the distance to the beach from the parking lot, over 1/4 mile! The third is how close the sites are, virtually touching.
On the positive side, the WiFi is great, there is a swimming pool, that I enjoyed yesterday. There are lots of cute shops and restaurants and a bar just 1 block away, which we just may check out at some point.
I'm hoping to spend the next week catching up on on-line stuff and enjoying the slow island life before heading north again. Mostly, though, 7 nights in a row without having to pick a campground, park or boondock site.
