Packing
When it comes to packing, I tried to keep the balance of bringing the essentials but also a few things that I don't necessarily need but would make me feel good - it's summer vacation after all! :) I took advantage of all the mini bottles and containers I have collected over the years and it made a big difference compared to the full size products. Some of the things I did bring in full size such as face wash (it was about 1/3 used up so it didn't weight a lot) as well as body and face sun protection + after sun lotion.
I was trying to visualize my outfits and put a bunch of clothes on my bed so I can see how well they pair together. I also paid attention to pick tops and bottoms that can combine well and that I could mix and match easily. Another thing I like to keep on mind when I am packing is the activities or type of trip I am going on - for this specific one I knew that I would spend majority of my time at the beach and then go to have dinner few times a week or go out to the club on the weekends. I brought only three pairs of shoes, I wore sneakers on the plane and packed flat sandals and slides/slippers for the beach. There were definitely things I didn't end up using as much as I thought I would and some of the clothing items I didn't even get to wear. I have to mention that we stayed in a private accommodation that had a washing machine which made our life much easier mostly because we could wash beach towels, underwear, swimsuits and clothes we wore to the beach.
Flight from Belgrade to Chania
We had our flight on Monday, September 4th, early in the morning. After sleeping for 4 hours, I got up around 1:30am, had a little bit of coffee to bring me back to life, checked my passport and wallet a million times, got into a comfy outfit and left to catch a bus at 3:05 from my place to the city. As soon as I got of the bus, my friends were waiting for me and we continued our journey by cars from Novi Sad to Belgrade. There was 8 of us traveling so we split up in two cars and got to the airport as planned.
My friends who were driving left their cars at the designated parking spots and we went to complete the usual process of checking in, passport control and all that jazz. Everything was slower than expected but since we had time, we were not in a rush. Our flight was one hours late than planned which was okay since I heard some people had really big delays which was something I was hoping to avoid.
It has been few years since I was on the plane and I was excited to have window seat as looking through the plane window is something I absolutely love. Flying above clouds is so dreamy and it always makes me think about how lucky we are to be able to go from one place to another in such a short period of time. That same day around 2pm we were already at the beach in Crete. I don't know, it just keeps me in awe how these things work, haha.
One thing that I wasn't impressed by is the headache I got after the flight. I've never experienced any bad symptoms after flying until now (same thing happened on our flight back). I could really feel the pressure in my ears and forehead while we were flying which later resulted in a pretty bad headache. I was fine the next day which was a relief... Overall, I would say our trip from Serbia to Greece was a good one and I was so, so grateful to be back to one of my favorite countries and have two weeks ahead to enjoy Crete island with a group of friends!
