The end of March 2017 was my first experience to climb to the top of a truly mountain mountain. Yes, before I had ever climbed a mountain child of Krakatoa mountain, a mound of land behind the house my childhood friends call the mountain, as well as some twin mountains you do not need to ask who belongs. Nah, that's joking! 😀
2 weeks before the climb begins, various preparations are done. Starting from collecting tools for the needs of the group, registering the climb online, preparing personal needs, to (snobs) sports together so that the body is better prepared to walk up to the summit of Mount Panrango.
Yes, Mount Gede-pangrango is the first natural mountain that I climbed after 24 years of living in this mortal world. Together with 7 colleagues who 2 of them are women, this is where my first mountain climbing begins.
Wrong Costume and Dimanja
Departing Friday night, 31st March 2017 from work place located at Jalan Woltermonginsidi, South Jakarta, we left for basecamp located in Cibodas by private car. Due to workplace and location differences, some of us departed separately and decided to meet at the Cibodas basecamp. It was almost 1 pm before all the members met at the Cibodas basecamp.
Since this was my first time in mountain climbing, I got the relief to bring a daypack that contained personal equipment, sleeping bag itself, and snacks to eat on the street. Tents and other logistics brought by 2 men 4 tough men who have repeatedly up and down the mountain.
Completed the various data needed to get to the top of the mountain, we then continue the journey. It turned out that along the way to the next post we met many people. Whether they are also going up to the top of the big mountain, or those just passing to visit Curug Cibeureum, Beautiful Waterfall on the slopes of Mount Gede Pangrango.
After walking almost 1 hour, we then arrived at Telaga Biru post. Here there are many climbers who rest for breakfast and coffee. I saw a variety of true mountain boys with their casual style. They are friendly, sharing food with every passerby, know or not. We then decided to stop at this post in order to fill the middle village is starting to fuss.
