I took my second bike trip yesterday to the port city Mokpo (목포). The total time was about 5 hours, 90km (56ish miles), so I am dieing today, but I have some photos to share from the trip.

Some people out on a boat waved to us as we passed.

During the trip, we saw some Ring-necked Pheasants, which are a good omen in Korea when you are on a hike. It is funny because back in South Dakota we hunt them, here they are considered endangered.

First Stop and Trip Saved

My bike lost some air pressure throughout the week, but because of the rain, I wasn't able to pump them up. So we tried to borrow a pump from the stop. However, the pump wasn't so good and just made it flatter, luckily there was a group of bikers that were getting started and they used their pump! We were grateful for their intervention!

And we are off again!

Second Break Lunch

We stopped at this tower and went up to the top for a lunch/snack before starting the second half of the ride. We took a different route than that large group so you can see them coming up the hill in the bottom right.

20180324_121543.jpg Okay, so my brakes are not so good. I was not about to attempt this descent, no way, not with that gravel pit at the bottom.

Third Rest and Art Gallery Park, place, thing.

We stumbled upon this place on our way. It says it is an art gallery and hiking trail? It seems to have a turd theme going on, so I will just let you all be the judge here cause we had no idea what was going on there. I have their facebook page linked here for more information.

Mokpo!!

After biking for some 4 and a half hours or so, we finally could see it on the horizon. I was so excited and had my second wind that I forgot to take a pic, but I did get some shots down by the coast.

To me, I thought these rocks looked like a couple.

Food!

We left our bikes at the train station and headed down to the fish street to get some Hoe (회) raw fish. Not sure which fish it was I was eating, but it was probably in a tank out front before coming in 😄 I have more information about the seafood market and Mokpo linked here to a blog by Raon. Check it out if you ever plan to visit!

20180324_161534.jpg Yeah, that is a whole two fish in this stew. Highly recommend this!

Heading Home

We got our train tickets and had an hour to burn, so we ventured the downtown area to find some tteok (떡), Korean rice cake.

20180325_115746.jpg Tteok, a little souvenir from the trip and study fuel 😋

After this, we rode the bullet train back home and biked another 7km (3.5ish miles) to home. Today, I am exhaused but it is a good exhausted for sure. I greatly enjoyed the ride with my bike club.

What a ride! Detailed travel. Lots of beautiful scenery. I find the side dishes quite little servings. Can you ask for refills though? Side dishes in some restaurants here in Baguio City serve more than that and you can ask for seconds. I'm not sure if there are fish dish here though. I haven't tried.

Yeah, quite honestly, the restaurant wasn't that good compared to other places I have been. Especially the side dishes were kinda weak. You can ask for seconds on most things that are side dishes, here. :)

Perhaps they don't get much customers who are into side dishes. There are restaurants who can make additional side dishes by request because understandably some people don't touch them and it all just goes to waste if they serve them.

Truth be told, at a lot of these places, if you don't eat the side dish, they save them for the next person. Idk, Korea's side dish game is pretty strong. What Americans think of like a buffet, Koreans think of it as a salad bar. Korean buffets, now don't even get me started, that is heaven for me :)

Haha! There is this Korean buffet that is always full. We've tried several times going there at different hours of the day and it's always packed. It's the cheapest in town :D

The foods really are so mouth-watering! :D It is good to go biking and it also looks cool in a bike (well at least for me :D ) but, I don't know how. :D I tried to learn once but I fell off and I got scared to try again. I might start learning again one day though :)

It is never too late to learn :) I learned when I was young. I once got hit by a truck and it scared me for a bit but now I am doing it again and it is more sketchy here though so I have to be careful.

What? Good thing nothing too serious happened when you got hit by a truck. That was scary. Worse than my experience. Yup, we all have to be careful always. :)

No, you didn't... so, flag
