The Niagara of the South

in #travel6 years ago

While waxing poetic about my travels in the past and contemplating where we intend to go in the future, I was reminded of a past visit to “Tallulah Falls” in Georgia.

It’s a series of six waterfalls cascading down the 1,000 feet deep gorge forged by the river below over many centuries. The falls cascade over stair stepped rocky outcrops for a distance of 500 feet for more than a mile.

There’s an existing working trading post on the point overlooking the falls below offering great views down into the gorge.

Another one still stands abandoned, it’s charm still intact.!

Another added bonus is being able to see the magnificent changing of the foliage if you visit during the fall.

Are you planning any travels this fall?

Georgia seems to be a beautiful country.

I'm going to Luxembourg and Prague during this fall :)

Thank you for sharing!

Beautiful!!!

looks really peaceful!

Love the photos of the falls. Beautiful area. The trading post is interesting. I think I like the older one better, has more character. The second last photo looks like an old threshing machine. And of course, I think the last photo is absolutely gorgeous. Spring and fall are my two favourite seasons. I miss seeing the leaves change colour. And the crispness in the air. Fall apples too!

I'd like to see that some day! I've never been to the "deep south."

howdy again mother2chicks! absolutely stunning photos of those falls, never been but would love to go!
