My Adventure in Þingvellir
Hi Steemians, Today I bring you a post about my experience in Þingvellir, a national park in Iceland that is located east of Reikiavik; capital of Iceland. This is a wonderful place where people can enjoy landscapes and nature. This park has a lot of history to tell. The tour guide taught me that an old assembly called Alþing was located here. For hundreds of years it was the site of several leaders and decisions around the years 930 to 1798.
In addition to being able to enjoy listening about that place and seeing its beautiful landscapes, the park has several activities for visitors. The thing that I did when I arrived was to make a trip on foot, where I could enjoy the company of the other visitors and the tour guide.
Another activity that I liked was horseback riding on "abandoned" roads. It was incredible to go through natural routes where we passed between two giant rocks that looked like a wall. It was a very entertaining activity and we were riding on horseback all day, since the roads were long and being able to gallop in a group was amazing. We had to ride all day starting in Gjábakki until we reached a stop in Skógarhólar where they offered us lodging, sanitary services, sleeping bags, and food, to summarize the basic needs.

The activity that I liked most was diving, since it was the first time I had been diving in some cracks called Silfra and Davíðsgjá. The two cracks are great places to dive but the Davíðsgjá crack is the most visited, thanks to its reputation for its crystal-clear waters and how cold the water is. For divers who are daring, they can go in groups along the crack, because it becomes wider and deeper, which I loved because you have more space to to swim and be able to see more things.
And finally I had the opportunity to camp on the shores of a lake next to an abandoned farm. Vatnskot is the name of the place where I camped. It is a beautiful and peaceful place, and when you lie down in your tent you only hear nature and that feels so good that you sleep very easily. Best of all is to wake up and watch the dawn, while you have a good cup of hot chocolate.
