Lake Quinault Waterfalls, Washington

in #travel6 years ago

After @haileyscomet and I explored the rain forest area, we headed to our favorite things, waterfalls! There were three in close in the area that had short hikes to get to them, so we headed towards our first stop at Falls Creek Falls (apparently this is a popular name for other falls too). At first the falls seemed very disappointing, but once we climbed down a fallen tree to the base, we were amazed at complexity and beauty! This falls was not very large, but the speeds, and different flows were stunning! We stayed and listened to the flow for a good 30 minutes or so and had a nice moment ot really breathe. See the next three photos below and read about how I fell down the side of the next falls and got pretty hurt!

We then headed on over to Gatton Creek Falls, which wasn't much either at first glance, but once we climbed over the railing and down to the stream we got a much better view. This first photo shows the basic view, but if you turned back to my right, the falls actually fell much further and had much more depth.

This photo below shows the depth, but I had to take a tough spill to get here.

I ventured off alone, and went to get an a better shot of the depth and didn't notice the moss was so slick and I fell 10 feet down (the top of where the photo below). I fell with camera around neck and in hand and tried to hard to protect the camera but my elbow hit so hard my arm bounced back up and the camera still hit. But some how it was all okay but my hip, knee, wrist, and elbow was all bruised and bleeding. No broken bones though, so after Hailey found me and grabbed the camera, I was able to climb up using trees limbs and roots, but man was I sore and scared! I almost fell into the river, could have been much worse. And funny thing, all the photos I got because of the fall, turned out not so good, so it was not worth it all! But what an experience none the less!

And then right underneath the road was this beauty! We don't know the name, but it was a nice end to the day before I had a long sore night! Stay tuned for videos tomorrow!
