Hello steemit platform!!
Today i would be sharing my experience to the community when I went for an excursion in Abeokuta where I visted the popular Olumo rock.
I would say it's my first time viewing a very high rocks full of anient footprints and bizzare markings, history had it that it was used as a fortress by the Egba people in 19th century long ago. They where the people who found refuge at the olumo rock during awar in the 19th century.
Here is the entrance to the Cave of Olumo Rock. which stands at a height of 137 meters above sea level, is a bit easier to climb than the Zuma Rock which stands at a height of 725 meters. There are in fact man-made stairs carved into the rock, making the climb fairly easy even for less fit visitors to this tourist location. There is also the availability of an elevator, in the event that you want to take the easy way up to the apex of the rock, albeit it comes at a cost.
When visiting Olumo you will be charge the fee of 700 Naira, which is for those who would climb the stairs while those using the Elevator paid the sum of 2000 Naira. There is also a camera fee of 200 Naira and for those who came with cars will pay 200 for parking fee. The best season i think it would be nice to visit Olumo Rock in Abeokuta is the dry season so that you will be able to watch the Olumo Festival which holds every month of March. After checking out Olumo Rock you can also take a Tour to the new Museum and the relaxation park which is at the foot of the rock for some refreshment.
I hope you all enjoyed it.... See you tomorrow
