Golden Temple is the holiest Gurdwara of Sikhism, situated in the city of Amritsar, Punjab, India. The Golden Temple, otherwise called Sri Harmandir Sahib (Home of God) or Darbar Sahib.

Amritsar was established in 1577 by the fourth Sikh master, Guru Ram Das. The fifth Sikh Guru, Guru Arjan, planned the Harmandir Sahib to be worked in the focal point of this sacred tank, and upon its development, introduced the Adi Granth, the heavenly sacred writing of Sikhism, inside the Harmandir Sahib.

Sanctuary is made up with unadulterated white marble and gets its present status with genuine Gold, That's the reason Temple is otherwise called Golden Temple.

Amrit Sarovar, which signifies 'The pool of nectar' is one of the principle attractions of the Golden Temple. The pool is accepted to have therapeutic properties. Fans wash their hands and feet, and once in a while take a plunge in the pool before entering the temple. Travelers who visit the sanctum for the most part take a dunk in the sarovar, which is accepted to endure exceptional mending powers.
