If you're heading east from the Pacific Coast of the USA, chances are that you'll have to pass the Sierra Nevada Mountain Range. And one of the most beautiful places to do so is 'Tioga Pass' (3031m) at the edge of Yosemite National Park. Closed in winter and spring due to heavy snow, you shouldn't miss this dramatic drive once the road is open in early summer. And if you bring the time and spirit - there are several trails up and down Yosemite Valley. Awesome place. Here are some impressions.
Rocks lie scattered and one can only guess at this granite mountain paradise.
Alpine heights at 3000m above sea level. The sun is strong.
I'll never miss out on vegetation
I wish I was there right now, descending into this unique wilderness.
And this your reward if you hike down :-).
