My own photos from home here in Maui, Hawaii

in #travel8 years ago (edited)

Being new to Steemit, I thought I'd share a little about my home here on Maui via recent photos I've taken.

And I'll start with a photo taken less than an hour ago here in Paia Town.

Image of lunch break in Paia
This photo shows Paia Bay looking northwest. I took it on my lunch break and did a quick dip in the ocean with my wife. A little windy, but no one at the beach. There's the trade off for wind!

High above the Andaz Maui

A newer south Maui resort. Great pools.

On a friend's boat south of Lahaina

We traveled up and down the south and west coast of Maui this day. So much fun. Caught choke opakapaka!

Grand Wailea, Maui

This one shares Wailea Beach as well as the mega resort Grand Wailea in south Maui, Hawaii.

Lahaina Harbor

This is a pretty good shot showing Lahaina Harbor in west Maui.

I love this shot! Makena Cove, south Maui

I call this "The Wedding Factory" because of the mad amount of weddings performed on this tiny beach each day. Gorgeous spot. Can you see the rainbow?

And finally a shot of us sailing on the Shadowfax

I love this shot too. You can see some of us swimming around off the boat. Such a great day.

I hope you like these photos! Let me know if you want me to share more. It's fun to have an excuse to go shoot each day. Mahalo and big ALOHA!

Great to see another person from Maui on steemit. Great places to play here on paradise.Keep up the posting. Aloha.

Whwn you get a chance, fo to the 808 bistro in kihei for dinner. I was the exec chef there for a few years. I miss it so much. Amazing open air restaurant to wine and dine at sunset

Yah, been there many times. We're in Paia, so we don't get to Kihei more than a few times per month. Love the space! I liked it when it was the Greek place too, but it was pretty slow and they moved to Wailea Gateway Plaza instead. Thanks for sharing and I hope you're still cooking! Everytime I've been there, including the deli, the food has been superb. Mahalo!

Amazing pictures. I'm going to Hawaii in December. I've never been, really looking forward to it. Thanks for sharing!

Thanks for commenting! You'll have a blast. Our humpback whales come home around mid December, though sometimes come a few weeks earlier. You should plan a whale watch if possible. SO amazing seeing them up close and personal. Have a great trip!

Oh, and here's a shot my wife got a few years back:

There's no place like Hawaii. Wish I was there.

Agreed. Such a special place!

I used to visit every winter. Your beautiful pictures make me want to return!

What stops you from returning every winter? COME BACK!

Great photos! I'll be in Maui in April for my wedding 🤗
Please keep posting!

CONGRATS!!! That's great to hear. Excellent place to get hitched. My wife is a wedding photographer, so I know the industry pretty well. This is a good site for Maui wedding information

Thank you! I just looked at the website and it is incredibly helpful. Does your wife have a website? I'm still looking for photographers.

Awesome pics. It has to be awesome to live in Paradise!

We are so blessed, and we don't take it for granted. Today we had a school thing for our kids, and after we jumped in the ocean and had a picnic lunch on the beach. Now I'm back at work (and supposed to be working but instead very intrigued by Steemit. HAHA!!!)

Awesome pictures. Welcome to Steemit !!

Thanks @logicwins! You're the reason I'm on here! I love your photos of surfing Peahi. You've got skills. Mahalo!

Awesome pictures

Mahalo! I'll post more in the future. Probably going to the south side tomorrow, so I'll try to get some photos of the beaches in Kihei. More to come!

Gosh, that's a dream!)

It's really something special, and it's not lost on us. We feel blessed everyday (though broke from the prices. Haha!)

Thanks for sharing those photos of Maui!

If you shared more, I'd want to see the life such as the places to dine out. Close ups of life at beach, biking trails, etc..

I'm getting a lot of positive feedback from this, and I like the community, even though it's still early beta. Yes, I'll be posting a bunch more. Dining, beach, and biking are all things I know something about.

Oh my goodness! ALOHA and KIA ORA from here in Aotearoa. Hawaii looks Ataahua I can't wait to visit

BIG ALOHA to you! Yes, come visit!!

Breathtaking photos, thanks for sharing! How did you manage to take the shots from so high up while you guys are on the boat?

I'm pretty sure he has a drone. Now I want a drone to go with the 3D printer that I also don't have. :D

Nice, but too civilized. I guess tourists everywhere and everything developed with houses.

Yah, the south and west are going that direction. Hana is still as it was a hundred years ago. You can still escape people in many areas of the island.

👍amazing all photos @maui

Maui, what's the range of the drone that you're using? How far can you take it before you lose radio contact? Does it automatically return to the GPS location that it was launched from, if that happens? What model is it?

Thanks for sharing your photos from Maui, @maui! You may want to check some photos from Buenos Aires!

WoW!! Beautiful

That looks really awesome!

Beautiful! Seems like an ocean away from my retreat here in the Blue Ridge Mountains of North Georgia. Wait....it is!

Wonderfull! So wonderfull

Gorgeous pictures! It was my dream to travel Hawaii one day...and still is! :) Which time in a year is to best time to visit there?

The simple answer is: YES! Digging deeper, it depends on what you want. If budget is an issue, off season around September and October is best. If you surf, winter time is best. If you want to see whales, February is best.

Thanks for your answer! :)

Wow! Looks like bits from heaven. The boat trip must have been amazing.

Great photos, thanks for sharing. Naturally forming clouds, so refreshing to see after chemtrails crap everywhere else. You are lucky to live there

Depression must not be a thing there.

It exists, just in different forms. Ex. when you get your summer electric bill after running the A/C a bunch.
