I love the unique challenges of cooking for lots of people under less than ideal conditions. It's quite rewarding.

As for the meat consumption...I heard an interesting notion the other day, I think it was on NPR. A scientist, or group of researchers, is suggesting that creatures like scallops and shrimp are basically sea plants. As in, their systems are not designed or set up for feeling pain or any type of conscious awareness. Any actions they take are not significantly different than the actions plants take when seeking water, defending from predators, or reaching toward sunlight.

It was in interesting idea and I just wanted to see if anyone else had any thoughts on the subject.
