When we ask what foreigners know about Brazil the most received answers are: carnival, football and beachs. But when we talk about cities with most beautiful beachs, generally they know only Rio de Janeiro. This is a wonderful city, for sure the biggest tourist city in Brazil (6,6 millions tourists in 2016), but there are many others beautiful cities with wonderful beachs in Brazil. I'm going to make a series of 20 posts with cities as beautiful as Rio de Janeiro so you may want to change where you going to spend your vacation.
São Miguel do Gostoso (Rio Grande do Norte)
One of my favorite city in Brazil and also where my dad lives. Determined to preserve the bucolic and friendly climate, this is the ideal city for who wants to rest.
São Miguel do Gostoso is a small fishing village just over 100km from Natal, Rio Grande do Norte capital. It has about 10.000 habitants, gourgeous and peaceful beachs and dirt roads. Its main characteristic is the calm, something that the city refuses to loose, bringing hundreds of tourists every years.
If you are looking for a busy place with lots of parties this city might not be best place. There the culture of the fishermen is preseverd: super loud musics are to allowed in bars and on the streets, the local cuisine is valued in small restaurants. Its beaches are amazing, clean and almost desert.
Beach of Tourinhos
The most famous and often considered the most beautiful. There are some bars and tents with drinks+snacks. To get there you will need to pass a 6km dirt road. You can rent quadricycles or walking on foot, the walk is long but worth it.
Ponta do Santo Cristo
Considered the best beach in Brazil and one of the best in the whole world for sailing sports, like kite and windsurf. It has a lot of foreigners, especially europeans.
Beach of Cardeiro
Quiet, with calm and green waters plus a small lake formed by rainwater.
Beach of Xepa
The most central beach of Gostoso, because it is parallel to the main street, at the point of greatest movement, with stores and restaurants. Yet the beach is almost desert, with countless coconut trees swinging along the entire strip of sand.
Beach of Maceió
For being the most distant from the beginning of the city, it's the most desert. Along its clear and soft sand you can see some small vessels anchored in the sea. Best beach to relax.
Do Everything on Foot
São Miguel do Gostoso is a city to know on foot, walking on the beach or through its small streets. For those who don't want to walk a lot, there is mototaxi point in front of the São Miguel do Arcanjo Church.
Lose Yourself With a Bike
Rent a bike e lose yourself. This task is easy and pleasure. Go slowly, watching the colorful houses, the street, the people seating in front of theirs house, in their wood chairs watching the day passing by with a contemplative spirit that you can't see in the medium and big cities anymore.
The São Miguel Arcanjo Church
This church is closely linked to the history of the city. Has its origin in a small chapel built by a merchant in the 19th century that, it is said, was cured of an illness through the intercession of his saint of devotion: São Miguel Arcanjo. When his prayers was heard, the merchant fulfilled his promise to erect a chapel in honor of the saint - and that's where the name of the city came from.
Food
The kitchen of the restaurant Mar de Estrelas (Sea of stars) is one of the most inviting from Gostoso, with fish, lobest, shrimp and sun dried meat. Maristela, the owner of the restaurant that works inside the hotel of the same name, besides great host is also good understander of how to please the customer. Ask for the funghi risotto with shrimp.
Have a good night, with good food, nice music and amazing drinks plus a friendly conversation with the owners and employees from Spaço Mix.
The bar and restaurant is one of the most searched for in Gostoso by those who want to spend the night. The tables, chairs, couchs are on the sand, between fruit trees, the sea noise. The place has a lookout with a capert, pillows, candle light and a sky full of stars.
The Calm and Hospitality
Chill and very king, the people reflects the calm of the city. In general, the people from Brazil is very hospitable, but in Gostoso you can multiply that by 10. It's amazing to seat with residents in the street, on the beach or in a restaurant to talk about amenities or any other subject.
Hope you liked and realized that Brazil is much more than just Rio de Janeiro.
