We have reached the destination of our trip around Europe. We planned this journey a long time ago, but as always, something else was more important then the trip. However, as I always say, we never know when our dreams come true, sometimes we have to wait, but never stop believing. We have been waiting for 20 years to visit the place of Padre Pio. The enormity of impressions that accompanied us during this trip will remain for many years.

During my stay at the grave of Father Pio, I focused on my own meditation, so you will not see pictures of Padre Pio, but I will show you his work and part of the town.

San Giovanni Rotondo still retains the structure of an ancient mountain town with white buildings covered with characteristic red roofs.

Padre Pio, experiencing many diseases, knew the burden of suffering. With pity he bent over the sick, suffering and abandoned.

The idea of building a hospital away from larger towns, in an area devoid of good access roads, without tools and specialists, without financial resources - was considered madness.

  • Faith works miracles.

  • On December 8, 1949, the first hospital building was opened

Although the Home of Relief in Suffering at its sources is a private enterprise devoted by Father Pio to the jurisdiction of the Holy See, it operates under the state sanitary service and has the status of a general hospital of the region.

The hospital conducts clinical activities in close contact with the Italian Ministry of Health and the main research centers in Italy and Europe. It also organizes scientific conventions at the regional, national and international level. Due to technological, personal and organizational requirements, the House of Relief in Suffering is considered one of the most prestigious hospitals in Italy.

Wonderful trip! Beautiful, my dear! Enjoy your time :))

Thanks for sharing this and I totally respect just sharing photos of his work and the place

This is a great trip you did.

Supposing there was a group of people traveling about your area, led by a charismatic speaker who claims that the world is ending soon. He promises he alone can save you, but only if you sell your belongings, devote the rest of your life to him, and cut off family members who try to stop you.

He also wants to change your name, advises you to leave your home/job if necessary to follow him, and says that if you don’t love him more than your own family, you’re not worthy of him. What sort of group is that?

some very interesting things to discover there so nice to check that out beautiful :)

Great tile work! I love that 2nd photo!!

Thank you my friend ;) I had a really peaceful time there.

It’s a long journey well worth your wait fir twenty years.
The designs of the church and hospital are reflective of the commintment and faith of the founder and believers! Quite awesome energy!
