Liberty Enlightening the World, is the original name of this magnificent structure located on Liberty Island in New York, and is commonly known as the Statue of Liberty
In addition to his real name another curiosity of the statue is that it is a french statue. As strange as it may seem the Statue of Liberty was built in France and granted as a gift to the United States of America in 1884, although it was formally inaugurated in 1886 as its pedestal had not been built until then.
Perhaps one of the lesser known curiosities is that the internal structure of the Statue of Liberty was designed by the engineer Alexandre Gustave Eiffel, that is, the same builder of The Eiffel Tower of Paris.
