Summer Adventure in Colorado. Breathtaking...literally

in #travel7 years ago

This past week my girlfriend and I went on a vacation in Colorado at the Twin Lakes campground to spend some time in the amazing terrain the Rocky Mountains has to offer. We spent two nights camping and the last night in a hotel. The last time I was here was about 9 months ago and I was by my lonesome. This time I had more fun then I could have hoped for and I'm so grateful for the opportunity to have done it. This experience was absolutely amazing besides the altitude sickness and the aggressive driving by the people of Colorado.

This was on our way to the campsite. Being visitors of course we had to stop and take a quick pic.

The first night we got in wasn't all that great, when we had arrived at our campsite we were extremely hangry and demanded some delicious steak to be grilled. We had been hyping this meal for quite some time. By the time we had settled in both of us were short of breath, lightheaded, fatigued and struggling to keep our spirits up. We ended up taking a nap to recover from the dramatic increase in altitude. That night didn't get much better but it was ok because that was the worst of our trip. The following night was truly amazing as were camped alongside whitewater rapids and green mountains.

The power of this water was shocking. Its hard to compare the feeling of melted snow rushing past you bones!IMG_1351.JPGIMG_1355.JPG

These pictures were taken after a quick uphill hike off trail to the tree tops near our campsite.

Everthing was just breathtaking. The weather was perfect. My best friend by my side sharing the experience and cherishing the short time we were spending there.

So beautiful I might have to move here!

Sometimes playing in a sun soaked meadow as if you were a child can bring you such a simple kind of joy. In today's world we are constantly being bombarded with information its important to stop and change your scenery and routine to get perspective on life at any moment. You don't have to travel to the Rockies to get perspective anywhere where you are secluded from information overload will do. I enjoy challenges and adventures as I have only gained from them. I hope to have many more to come and look forward to sharing.
