Hey guys!
Welcome to yet another episode of “Sweet Places in Brazil”!
For this post I choose to show you Chapada dos Veadeiro’s National Park:
Why did I choose this park?
Because this park has the most beautiful waterfalls I've ever seen and also because it’s a wonderful place to preserve the biodiversity.
It was declared a World Natural Heritage Site in 2001 by UNESCO.
Also, I'm staying at a camping next to the park entrance.
That's why I'm enjoying it enough to explore it.
Cariocas waterfalls
Where?
The park entrance is 260km from Brasília, in the district of São Jorge, 36km from the municipality of Alto Paraíso de Goiás.
What are the park’s attractions?
It has four trails to reach the attractions of the National Park: Saltos Trail, Carousel and Corredeiras, Cânions and Carioca Trail, Seriema Trail and Sete Quedas Crossing.
The trails cross the Cerrado (a type of brazillian vegetation), offering us the beauty of a wild landscape and amazing views to finish with a good waterfall bath.
The Cânion trail and Cariocas waterfalls
This trail is my favorite because it’s very easy to do, flat and the landscapes are beautiful.
It is approximately 12km round trip.
After the bifurcation, following to the left another 1 km, the road leads to the Cariocas Waterfall.
To the right, for about 800m, is the Cânion waterfalls.
Cariocas waterfalls
Saltos trail, Carrosel and Correideiras
They are more or less 11 km round trip.
After approximately 4 km of walking, you get to the Belevedere of Salto do Rio Preto (Salto of 120 m).

Saltos waterfall
I found this waterfall impressive.
It was the largest amount of water I've seen falling to this day.
It is the most crowded too because it is the park's most famous.
I loved the fresh little drops of water carressing my face.
I felt full in this magical moment.
After a very steep climb of 800 meters, we arrived at the Carrossel’s belevedere...

From this point, the visitor can choose to go to the Correideiras of Rio Preto (Black river’s rapids).
It is also a great waterfall to take an extended bath in the hydromassages formed in its small falls.
A quiet place in the rapids
It also has the Siriema trail which is only 800 meters.
This waterfall is beautiful but you can swim only during the rainy season.

To conclude, there is also the possibility of doing the Sete Quedas Crossing (the Seven Falls) that I havn’t yet done.
There are 23 km of trail that can be covered in 2 or 3 days, with the possibility of staying 1 or 2 nights in the camping area.
I loved it every time I went for a walk in the park. It is really a destination to know in Brazil.
In addition to all other waterfalls and beautiful lookouts that offer the region of Chapada dos Veadeiros.
I forgot to mention that the park entrance is free until next year! Enjoy!!
