Today I’m gonna take you to Taipei, the Capital City of Taiwan. It was always a dream of me to visit this part of Chinese culture and heritage.

I spent one week in and around Taipei and i was very impressed of many things.
You can eat very well and very cheaply in Taipei. Especially in Restaurants, which don’t have a fancy look, you can eat super good food. And there’s a huge variety of restaurants, in addition to local Taiwanese specialties, you’ll find regional cuisines from all over China, as well as great Indian, Japanese and other options. Just make sure to leave some room for snacks—street-vendor food here is addictive.

Here some of the best places to go:

Yongkang Street is known more as a food street rather than a shopping street.
There are many food outlets and restaurants serving noodles, dumplings, rice dishes to dainty cafes serving cakes, ice cream and other desserts. But also many book stores are around Yongkang Street.
Its a good place to feel local Taiwanese lifestyle.
We also checked out the small sub streets along Yong Kang, as there are many hidden food outlets in there too.

We also went to an old Military dependents village, which is now more a museum. It is located very close to Taipei 101 tower and it also gives a good inside of how soldiers were living in the 1950’s.

When I missed some real szechuan food, we went to the just recently opened Haidilao Hot pot restaurant, one of the most popular restaurants to eat hot pot in China and also in many other countries. Unfortunately, as taiwanese people don’t like to eat very spicy food, the hotpot wasn’t as spicy as it is in China. But still, it was an enjoyable evening there!
There is also a night market nearby, where many young people have a drink and enjoy the relaxing atmosphere.

nice place!

great article, thank you so much for showing us around, my friend
