Baalbek is a city in eastern Lebanon, in the Bekaa Valley. Around 80,000 people are living in the city which makes it one of the largest Lebanese city. The majority of the people belongs to Shia Islam, a small minority to Christianity. In the 80s, Iran founded the notorious Hezbollah military there.
Baalbek is also famous for it's ancient sites. During the Roman period, the town was called "Heliopolis". The most famous temples are the Bacchus temple and the temple of Jupiter.
