Hello Steemians,
After visiting Salzburg and Vienna, we took the train to Bratislava. Unfortunately, I've lost my pictures from this city, so here's a picture from the website Getyourguide :
- Third city : Bratislava. When we arrived there, we had no one to host us. Searching for a place on Couchsurfing can be really difficult. I think I might have sent 60 requests for our three weeks trip.
So, we had to call different places and we found a student dormitory that rent rooms for the tourists during the summer. It was rudimentary..., when we saw our room, we burst in laughs. Some parts were rusty, the curtain rail was broken, there were insects, the mattresses as solid as a stone and dirty,... But the price was very cheap ! It was like 3 euros a night, so basically nothing. While we stayed at the dormitory, we kept looking on Couchsurfing for someone to host us. We finally found a man who welcolmed us and who took us in other parts of Slovakia. We did some hiking, here are some pictures :
Bratislava is a city with narrow streets (compared to Vienna's huge spaced streets). We spent 4 days in Slovakia. We walked a lot around the city and didn't really visit museums or castles. Just one time, it was so hot that we went to a lake and spent the whole afternoon there. We were exhausted because of the sun and the weight of our bags.
We had the chance to assist to a band rehearsal. On Couchsurfing, we met a guy named Michal, and he accepted to spend some time with us. He invited us to his rehearsal room and we met his friends. We talked, we listened to their music, we took pictures. I really enjoyed spending time with them, if you want to listen to their music, you can find them on Youtube (The Raw Bishops). I'm not sure they're still together because they haven't updated their website for a long time. But sometimes, it feels nice to listen to them and to travel again in Bratislava.
One night, when we were still in the student dormitory, we decided to go out for a drink. We took the bus and ended up in nowhere. The streets were empty, no bars, everything was closed. We stayed outside until 3 in the morning, sitting on a bunch and doing nothing. I don't even remember how we got back to our place.
After, when we were at our host place, we tried again to go out and this time, it was successful ! At the beginning, not very much, but then we found a group of teenage scouts with their supervisors who were speaking french. Actually, they were coming from Belgium. We went to talk with them, sat in a bar together, ordered beers and they sang all night long. We stayed up until 6 in the morning. They told us that their next stop a few days later was going to be Hungary. So was it for us. So one of my friend took one of the guy's scout scarf and she kept it so we would be sure to meet again in Budapest.
We didn't know at that moment, but Slovakia was the beginning of a disorganized and chaotic travel. In Austria, we were still very cautious about the place would could go, the timing, etc... But in Slovakia, we started to have troubles (the night outside doing nothing, the awful bedroom,...), and it wasn't going to stop at all !
Hope you enjoyed the article, next one will be about Budapest !
