Hi everyone, I hope today finds you all well!
As you already know I have the privilege of living in Prague, the capital of Czech Republic and one of the most beautiful cities in Europe. Prague is known for many things: its close proximity to a numerous numbers of European capitals, its stunning buildings and architecture dating from the Middle ages to the Austro Hungarian empire and the incredible views over the Vltava River.
But aside from all of this, Prague is also considered as one of the beer capitals of the world! The Pilsner beer has been invented here in the Czech town of Plzen (the name comes from here) and since then has had people falling in love with its slightly bitter and fresh taste.
Moreover, Czech republic is known to be the country with the most beer consumption per capita (around 365 liters a year per person, the equivalent of two beers per day - infants included!! -), so it is not a surprise the city is crammed with pubs offering some of the tastiest and sweetest hops juices on the planet!
Czech people are so proud of their national beverage that they also have their own version of the Oktoberfest, although theirs is just called beer fest(they are so modest ;)) and it's held in June.
During the past 2-3 years the Czech Republic has witnessed the rise of lots of microbreweries, following the new trend of craft beers, which have led to the opening of numerous specialized pubs and bars.
Today i am going to show you one of the ones I prefer the most, thanks to its relaxed atmosphere and wide choice of drinks : the 20pip pub, located in Namesti Miru, the very heart of the Vynohrady neighborhood.
The pub is easily reachable by public transport and lies a few meters from the green line stop Namesti Miru (small curiosity :this is the deepest metro station in Europe, more or less 100meters below sea level, and thus the one with the longest escalator)
The 20pip is spread over two floors, the ground one with just 5 tables and a bigger space on the first floor, from where you will be able to enjoy a lovely view on the Namesti Miru church.
The pub is decorated with a nice style: sturdy wooden tables and benches will provide comfortable seating while you sip your golden drink.

!
The menu is very wide and comprises, by default, at least 20different types of craft beers from Czech Republic and other countries of the world, all on tap. The beers are always rotating and new ones are added every once in a while, so rest assured you will never get bored here!
Aside from the tap beers, they offer a nice selection of bottled ones, also coming from local and foreign breweries.
Today I felt I needed something a bit more strong and flavourful than a standard pilsner so I opted for 2 glasses of APA made by the Matuska brewery, one of my favorites in Czech Republic. Their Apollo galaxy has a very rich taste and it is not that common to find, so I had to give it a try!
Beer calls for food to go with it (and believe me, you need to be able to make it home safe, these beers are quite strong), but don't worry : 20pip has thought about everything and you will be able to order some nice food as well here. Their pinsa (a special version of pizza usually made in Rome and surroundings) has a crunchy and thin crust and the condiments were fresh and tasty... To bad we were too hungry and ate it all before even being able to take a picture!! We have one from the menu though:
The prices are average : for a small beer you will not pay more than 80 crowns (3 euros) which compared to the standard beer price in Prague (40 crowns, 1.60 euros) might be a bit expensive but definitely worth it for a craft beer!
I hope you enjoyed the article and feel free to comment below if you are a beer fan or if you just want to have a chat!
