Summer

You´ll take a left when on the main road to Aluksne, continue driving down the dusty country lane -which has on its right and left apple, pear and plum trees. The light yellow wooden house with its steep roof is slightly elevated compared to the surroundings. Besides the occasional sound of cows and a barking dog there is silence. There is a lot of silence, the type of silence which hurts your ears if you are not used to it. Cherry trees surrounding the house offer cooling shadows when the day is at its warmest hour. Honey bees buzz from flower to flower, the glasshouse provides shelter for the more delicate and demanding fruits and vegetables. Swallows practice their maneuvers over the fields which give this distinctive smell of freshly cut grass to the air. A smell you find everywhere this time a year. On the horizon the wind blows spectacular waves in the rye and wheat fields. Beyond the horizon the endless forests.

Time stands still. No, time has to stand still. Please allow me to keep and relive this feeling -this sensation- day in, day out.

This is serenity.

This is happiness.
