Before I will start blogging about my everyday life as a traveling cameraman, I first want to share with you another story.
The Time me and my Girlfriend drove through the wonderful Blue-Ridge Parkway.
For anybody knowing the song: "Take me home, country roads" from John Denver, thats the mountains he sings about.
Last year in October me and my Girlfriend went from Germany to North Carolina to visit friends of ours.
They recommended taking a road trip through the Parkway, so we quickly decided to give it a shot.
I can highly recommend it to anybody, who loves nature and a good road trip. Unfortunately we didn't do the whole way.
We stayed within a one-day-drive proximity to where our friends lived, but alone that was worth it.
So first we went to Grandfather Mountain.
Its the highest elevation of the Blue Ridge Mountains and has got a swinging bridge connecting the Parking lot with a big rock, from which you have a 360° view of the Forrests surrounding it. Since there are not really other mountains nearby, you can see as far as you could possibly can.
Please be careful while being on that rock, some local shop assistant told me that many people died, because they fell off that rock.
A little fun fact:
The road leading up the mountain was one of the movie sets for "Forrest Gump". You can find the scene in the running montage pretty far at the end of the movie.
From there we went to a waterfall. I can't remember the name, but its not too far away from Grandfather mountain.
The coolest part was that we had a bear encounter there. Unfortunately I didn't take a picture, but we did just see it from far away, but still, we saw a wild bear.
The way to it lead trough a very wild forrest, which had jungle like tendencies. It looked kind of unusual.
Anyways from there on we drove down the road pretty far and after approximately 2 hours we reached.
Caney Fork Overlook

The views on that parkway are always stunning and if we would have stopped every time, there was a great view, we would still be on that road.
That basically sums up our short trip through the Blue Ridge mountains.
Next time, I will probably tell you something about my everyday travels tough countries like Norway, or Romania.
Next travels:
