A Day On The Links At Troon North!

Have you ever wondered what it would be like to play one of the best golf courses in the state?

Well I certainly did... up until last weekend when I was finally able to get on Troon North for a price I could afford!

I had been scouring Golfnow in order to book a tee time for 2 at Troon North when suddenly staring me right in the face was 1 spot open that was less than half what they normally charge! I could hardly believe it! I had to do a double take just to make sure it was not a misprint.

It wasn't.

I booked that tee time as fast as I could, and Fish (my buddy's nickname) and I were on the course Saturday morning.

We were all smiles until we stepped on the first tee and this is what we saw:

This would be the most wide open hole on the entire golf course...

Needless to say, there would be lots of balls hit out in the desert today...

We managed to run into a few critters while we were searching for our golf balls that added a little excitement for us. The most interesting were the 2 shown below:

I had never seen a bobcat in the wild before and we got within 10 feet of it! Glad it didn't have rabies!

Next we saw these massive lizards all over the rocks.

We had to look them up but apparently they are chuckwallas. One of the largest lizards in North America. We didn't even know they lived here!

Where do you even hit the ball?!

Roughly a dozen lost golf balls later we finally made it to the dazzling 18th. This was our view from the fairway:

It truly was magnificent!

All in all Fish and I had a great time playing one of the true gems of the Arizona desert and we would highly recommend getting out to the course sometime. If not just for the golf but for the sceneic views and the abundant wildlife!

It all made for a great experience!
