Whitewater Rafting the Chattooga River

in #travel8 years ago

Recently, my wife, Rosanna, and I decided to go whitewater rafting. Living in Charleston, SC, it was a short five hour drive to Franklin, NC where we stayed. You can see our cabin below:

From there, it was about a 45 minute drive to Clayton, GA where we began our rafting trip down the Chattooga. We went with Southeastern Expeditions and had a great time. There's a few shots of the rafting below:
(Fun fact, this is the river the movie, Deliverance, was filmed on)

Although it was raining on the river the entire time, it was a blast. My only complaint is that I wanted to keep going even longer.

In our down time, we did some hiking:

In Franklin one evening, we came across a double rainbow (we didn't start crying):

We spent a bit in Cherokee, NC as well although we didn't do any gambling:

We also took a drive on the Blue Ridge Parkway:

And then it was time to return back home. Overall, if you've never been whitewater rafting or to the Smoky Mountains, I would highly recommend it!
