It’s Friday, let’s keep it uncomplicated;)
A few months ago I finished a long trip from Alaska to Mexico living in a van. I’ll tell you about it another time.
I came back addicted to many things but especially to calm and beautiful wilderness.
Being able to stay at an isolated place out in the middle of nowhere, offline, without distractions, noise and people was a blessing.
FREEDOM, NATURE AND DIGGING DEEPER
You feel free, you feel like you belong to nature, like you’re a part of the whole thing, of something bigger. You connect deeply with yourself.
Such a place creates emotional intimacy and you can’t escape your inner life. It feels a little weird at first so you look for something to do. You want to keep your mind busy because your own thoughts disturb you.
But then you realize that the place is so stunning it makes you feel calm and good. The view, sounds of nature and the beauty do miracles. It brings positive energy and creativity to your life. And trust me, after a moth of staying in places like this you get addicted.
FIND YOUR OWN OASIS
So now, being at home, I try to remember how it felt. So I just walk around and find places where no one can bother me. They are everywhere, even in a big city (just remember – safety first;).
Pictures were taken in the Coachella Valley Preserve, CA, thousand palms oasis, minutes from Palm Springs, Indio and other desert cities. It’s a magical place where time stands still.
I know exactly what you mean. Taking that time to disconnect and just be is so valuable.
I grew up in a quiet mountain town, and loved every minute of it.
Thanks for the read,
Thanks again! I come from a small town but I've lived in a big city for many years now and the older I am the more I appreciate where I come from! Do you miss the mountains? I lived in the Canadian Rockies only for a year but I miss the mountains a lot:)
I had a very similar journey by going to the city for a spell, but I moved back to the mountains and love that I did. I wouldn't want be anywhere else.
Canadian Rockies sounds like fun!
