With the collapse of coal mining industry in 1990s, Houtong once became a small old declining town.
Where people left, cats came and made their sphere. There are hundreds of cats around the town and you can easily find them on tiny roads, fences, and benches next to you.

Thanks to those cats, the town is reviving by attracting so many cat-lovers.

There are so many cute paintings and figures to show that the town is for cats. Workshops sell small art-pieces getting motive from cats. You can drink a cup of coffee and Oolong tea sitting together with cats.
