Cheap Travel #1 – Volunteer and Travel for Free with WWOOF

in #travel7 years ago (edited)

Care for an adventure around the world cuddling baby goats? The World Wide Opportunities on Organic Farms (WWOOF) volunteer exchange is an organization connecting organic farms with volunteers and adventure travelers. In exchange volunteering 4-6 hours a day, travelers will get free accommodation and food from their hosts. In addition, they will get to learn about sustainability and organic farming.

Ultimately, the best traveling experiences are made up of journeys and memories. We travel to get away from our normal lives and have new experiences. So roll up your sleeves and get ready for a day of farming and exploring somewhere on the other side of the world.

How It Works

The first and most difficult step is to choose your destination. With so many amazing places to see around the world, do not be too hasty in making a quick decision on this part. Take the time to research places and figure out what you want to get out of this experience. There is no rush. Also remember that you can have as many WWOOF experiences as you would like in different destinations.

After you have chosen your destination, join the WWOOF group corresponding to the destination you have chosen. You will then be able to find hosts and volunteer assignments. Once you arrive, you will get to enjoy your new adventure traveling, volunteering, and learning.

Countries

WWOOF is one of the few volunteer exchanges working with hosts and volunteers in nearly every country. Witness the natural wonders, wildlife, and multifaceted cultures of East Africa. Explore different civilizations, traditions, cultures, religions, and histories in Southeast Asia. Discover Europe’s charms, beautiful scenery, and rich history. The opportunities that WWOOF can give you are endless.

Volunteer Jobs

There are a variety of volunteer assignments to choose from. Naturally, most of the work will be hands-on and involve the typical day-to-day activities of a farm. If that sounds appealing, then this might be the organization for you. You can negotiate with your potential hosts about accommodations, volunteer work, and trip length to ensure that you get the best experience possible.
