Travelling with my wife: Escaping rain in Paris

in #travel7 years ago (edited)

It was spring time when we last visited in Paris and it was raining almost the whole time we were there. Luckily there are a lot of museums, art galleries and shopping opportunities so rain didn´t bother us that much. Our first museum/art gallery where we stopped was the Louvre. It´s the world´s largest art museum and a famous historic monument. The Louvre was originally a fortress built in the medieval period and later it was turned in to a royal palace. In 1793, only small part of the Louvre was opened to public as a museum, but now, almost the whole Louvre Palace is open for public.

I have heard that the Louvre is so big that it would take several months to go through all those paintings and other objects. Naturally, we didn´t have that much time. Actually, we had only three hours to run all over and see the most important things there (like the Mona Lisa!). If we are ever going to Paris again, we have to go back to the Louvre with more time. It was a great escape from the rain!

Here are a few photos!
