Eumundi, photographs of the Historical Australian Town. How it came to be and meet the people who live there!

in #travel7 years ago

My mum owns and runs a pub on Queensland Sunshine Coast in a town call Eumundi. The pub is now called Joes Waterhole but back before a fire in 1926 it was called The Commercial Hotel. It had to be rebuilt into what it is today.

It is a very old town that has been around long before Australia was titled a country in 1901. Here are some historical photographs and a modern comparison.

The New Pub 'Joe's Waterhole'

In 1979 it became home to 'The Eumundi Markets' a biweekly artisan market that has everything from organic good to organic soap, artworks to incense, you name it the Eumundi Markets have it.

My mums pub runs a 'footy tipping comp' (Rugby betting compitition) where people can bet on which teams they think will win the National Rugby League Premiership. National Rugby League isn't like regular rugby, being Australians we had to add our own twist to a classic haha. She shared these photos of her and the local people having a drink and enjoying their Sunday, so I thought I would share them with you.

And my gorgeous mum on the left of this shot :)

The people who live in this quite town are very laid back, and enjoy social gatherings to laugh and share stories of their week. I hope you liked meeting them :)

Thank you for reading and hopefully enjoying my post!

Australia has really revolved..

You are right! It has changed so much in the past 10 years alone.

Hi Harry. I love old photos!

They are great hey @joe01. Those old photos are up all over the town reminding it of what it was like back in the day. Some families in the town have been there since waayyyyy back at the start!
