I and @whynotdoit have a plan to meet my friends in Old Quater near Ho Guom lake. It is known as a the most famous destination in Hanoi with not only tourists but also with local people especially the young. Here is considered as some place to meet up and have some drink. That is why I chose this place to introduce my boyfriend with my friends.

Ta Hien Street

I know all of us will drink a lot for sure, so I go by cap as a safe method and head to Tạ Hiện street. Tạ Hiện street is one of 36 streets of Old Quater. nowadays it specializes in drinks and becomes a the most attractive destination with the young in weekend. There are a lot of bars, pubs with loud EDM music and quite a few street restaurants where you can sit down on the street to have some bottles of beer. Drinking on the street while talking to each other is a culture of Vietnamese people.

We get Old Quater and walk to Tạ Hiện Street. As usual It is really crowd, like a sea of people. It is quite hard to squeeze through the crowd but honestly, atmosphere here is so great and excited. The sound of laughter, the voice mix with the music. I can feel the beat of life in this city.

It takes round 15 minutes to find out my friends.

They are sitting on the street in front of beer restaurant. They already had some beer while waiting us. We order more beer and some foods to eat. After some short introdution, we gradually get more comfortable and closer with each other. That was quite fun when drinking and see stream of people walking around.

Beer is good as usual but food is not good. It is not the restaurant I often choose when I come here. Grill bird is my favourite dish but in this restaurant, it is so dissapointed.

And the worst thing is price. When I see the bill, my expression like "what the hell is going on?". It is too expensive, almost double the normal price. It cost $55 for just chips, grill bird and 8 bottles of beer. We pay bill and tell ourselves that we will never return to this restaurant again. It will be blacklisted.

1900 Le Theatre

Opposite of that restautant is a famous bar in Hanoi named 1990 Le Theatre. When we drank, the sound of music attracts us and we decide to get into there. We need to pay $3,5 for ticket per one. And they provide us with one free beer. We go inside and enjoy the music. All of us is nearly drunk but still order more beer. My friend keep laughing because of this kind of bar in Vietnam. He says atmosphere quite good but the music is too old and burst into laugh because of its beat. But we still have a good time and enjoy it.

After wasting money for a lot of drinks in bar, we get out. My friends almost drunk and even walk like zombie. So do I. I dont remember anything since we got second bottles of beer in bar. My boyfriend tell me everything that although my friend is drunk, they still take a bike and drive. My boy friend is stunned a little bit when he saw it. Haha. After that, we take a cap and go back home. It is 1am.

Fortunately, all of us got home safely.

$55 is a crazy price, I'm not surprised you won't go there again. I was in Hanoi two weeks ago and had drinks on this street. Sounds like you had a fun night though. Nice post, I'll upvote it when my power is backup.

Did you have a good time in Hanoi? This city is quite adorable, isnt it? ^^ I saw your posts, you seem really love Hanoi :))

Does the restaurant Bit Tet Ong Loi still exist in the old quarter?
This used to be one of my favorite places for beefsteak.
