Grand Place in Seoul : Amisan Garden

Gyeongbokgung Palace in heart of Seoul, Korea was the main royal palace of the Joseon dynasty.
It is remarkable that there was the most beautiful garden in the whole country in Gyeongbokgung which was king's quarters and the center of politics.

The garden called Amisan is located behind Gyotaejeon Hall, the queen's quarters.
Ami means beautiful lady, who is queen. San means mountain or mound.
Therefore, Amisan can be said to be a garden for the queen.

Amisan Garden is a flower stairs garden that can be seen only in Korea.

Amisan Garden was built with rectangular stones, on which flowers and trees were planted.

At the bottom of Amisan Garden is a strange stone.

Hamwolji is a stone-making lake.
Nakhadam is a stone-making pond.
These are victories of mythical imagination.

There are four beautiful chimneys in Amisan garden.
The faces of the chimneys are decorated with various symbols, such as phoenix, bats, cranes, pine trees, bamboo trees, deer, elixir plants, Haetae, and starfish.
These symbols were auspicious animals and plants that symbolized long life and prevented demons.

The pine tree boasts a wonderful appearance.

There are mountains, ponds, animals and plants in Amisan. It has brought the nature world into the palaces. It was created for the long life of the queen.
Long live our Queen! So do every woman in the world.
