✈️ Fly With Me: One Unforgettable Flying Experience I Would Never Forget ...

in #travel7 years ago (edited)

Do you notice recently when you get on the plane, ground staff and flight attendants are quite alert and they request that you must show your boarding pass to them, mainly in Asia cities like Singapore, Hong Kong etc that many visitors transit to other countries. I am not here to scare you and talk about any political stuff my friends . I am just gonna share one of my unforgettable experience based on this latest policy.

So here is the story. I was flying back to Hong Kong from Newark on 20th December 2015. When most of the passengers got on board and sat down for take off, as usual, flight manager made announcement that our flight was ready to take off and told the ground staff to leave the aircraft. I still remember it was a almost full flight with so many families which are going back home for Christmas.Me too. I desperately want to go home for Xmas and I just can't stand a 16 hours flight like EWR-HKG.

However, at the moment, there were three big guys carrying their big suitcases and getting on board. We were quite surprised but we still let them in as the ground staff said they were 'pilots' and holding 'ID tickets' (it means they are airline staff as well and the airline they work for offer them tickets). The reason they were here was their company needed three of them to fly to Hong Kong for operating a flight back to New York as the flight to NYC was short of pilots for some reasons.

Ok. We waited for them to settle down, let them go for a quick washroom and then flight manager informed the cockpit crews that we were ready. Suddenly, those three guys said they wanted to leave the plane because they received a call from the company saying that they didn't need to fly to HK anymore. Wow. Such a weird and stupid company. That's what I thought at the moment.

Anyway, ground staff asked them not to leave aircraft and asked for the phone number of their company's. After getting the numbers, ground staff was out. At the time, our flight delayed 1.5hr already. We were in hurry as after 2 more hours, our duty hours exceeded and we had to stay in New Jersey at least 12 hours. Nobody wanna stay here to be honest.

After 10 mins, ground staff was back and said the number was wrong and she couldn't reach anyone. Captain said the passengers and their luggages should be offloaded and take off ASAP. Once captain gave the command, we all needed to follow. However, two first officers said no as they thought we should do a thorough security check after those three guys left. Make sense. We did two security checks - with and without passengers aboard. Washroom was the key point as three of them had been washroom. You never know what they put in the washroom like bombs and what the purpose they did the whole thing. No matter what happened, we still needed to do it to save our lives.

At the end, nothing we found so we let the passengers get on board and we finally could go back home. The updated information from the airport was those three guys were not pilots and not working for any airlines. The police found guns in one of their luggages. I had chance to ask the European First officer why he insisted to have security check and his answer is he saw quite few cases happened on his flights when he still worked for local European airlines. He said just be alert especially in Europe and US ( US is one of the countries that does not really care about the boarding pass things once you passed the custom).

I tried to write it in a funny way and I hope this story doesn't scare you. But just one thing very important we can do is even as a passenger, we always need to be alert and report any suspicious things and items in the flight. If crazy things still happen, it's fate and we have no choice right?

Hope you guys always have good and safe flights:)

Yup, and I always remember that really calm flight attendant who reported to the police on one of the 911 planes.

@gladysmak such thing do happen...and it really suckss...but your condition is really awful and unique extra passengers with extra luggage on the aircraft with everyone clueless..

So I think I am the 'lucky' one who had such crazy thing happening on my flight. But one thing is ID (staff) passengers always come late before door closes. And also each of them carries their own luggage which is legal and reasonable same as every passenger as does. Last time I was the very last passenger getting on a flight from San Francisco to Houston and got the boarding pass just at the gate not even in the checkin counter. It's just how airlines work for discounted tickets.

WTF hahahaha ,what happen later with these guys?

I don't know. Probably they were in the prison?lol

Hahahaha i h ope, and for many time please hqhahahqh

Damn, sounds scary. BTW, I think there's a typo: Once captain gave the commend
I think should be "command".

Wow I couldn't see it! Thanks for telling me :)

you're welcome
