LAND OF BURNING SUN

Zulia State is a beautiful piece of land that is located in the Venezuelan West, known as Zulianos to its inhabitants full of nobility, gratitude and devotion for the Chinese (Virgin of Chiquinquira Patron of the Zulianos).

This beautiful land is known as the FIRE OF THE FIRE and / or LAND OF THE SUN BELOVED, due to the wonderful and desolate Sun that accompanies us day after day, leaving temperatures between 30 ° and up to 40 °

The region has great economic resources, among which the cattle, oil, mining, agricultural and fishing activities stand out and the production of cheese stands out.

What makes us different and gives us the touch of flavor of each Zulia, are our customs and traditions; likewise, we have beautiful natural resources such as Our MARACAIBO LAKE (Capital of the State) and architectural wonders like our Bridge over the Lake.

Between its culture and tradition, we have the devotion to our Queen Morena, Virgin of Chiquinquira, its festivities are celebrated on November 18, in which a large number of parishioners gather in the basilica of Maracaibo, which is their temple, this NOVEMBER is a month of celebration and Fair, numerous cultural activities and concerts Pipers (musical genre of this land Zulia "GAITA") and on November 17 is celebrated the dawn piper to sing the birthday of this Virgin on 18 November.

To end this short journey through this beautiful land we have the natural and heavenly phenomenon "CATATUMBO LIGHTNING", the Catatumbo lightning is a meteorological phenomenon that occurs in the lake basin of Maracaibo in Venezuela, mainly in the southern part of said lake and in the lower basin of the Catatumbo river, where its name comes from. Scientists from the Scientific Modeling Center indicate that it would be more appropriate to talk about the Catatumbo lightning bolts, because they tend to occur in multiple places every night, but from a distance they are seen as a single phenomenon.

Likewise the "SIERRA DE PERIJA", the mountains mark an important section of the border between Colombia and Venezuela, with the Colombian departments of Norte de Santander, Cesar and La Guajira to the west and the Venezuelan state of Zulia to the east. The eastern slope belongs to the basin of Lake Maracaibo where the Catatumbo River flows into.
