Lake Zaton is of karst origin and is a temporary lake (during summer when is is drought there is no water in the lake, and during rainy periods it is filled). It is located in Mehedinţi Plateau and in precipitation seasons it stretches over a surface of several hectares, can reach 2.5 km long, 2 km and over 20 m depth at the maximum point at the level of sorb.
It may remain unceasing for many years when the dives are covered with alluviums brought from the slopes of the hills.
You don't have to walk too much to get on this place (like 30-40 mins) and even though the lake is dry, the view still worth it.
You can even meet black goats or different interesting plants :)
