LAS OLAS ART FAIR, Fort Lauderdale, FL - A NICE SUCCESS!

Last weekend I participated in the 30th edition of Las Olas Art Fair in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. While most of the country was in the grips of a mayor winter storm, I was lucky enough to be outside and showcase some of my art I have been working very hard on.

This event occurs three times a year and is located on a busy downtown street filled with restaurants and shops. Around 120 vendors were there showcasing many different types of art. There were sculptures, paintings, photography and hand-made jewelry. The event was held on Saturday and Sunday and is estimated over 40,000 people attended.

South Florida has become such an international hub. I met people from over 15 different countries. Luckily I can speak Spanish and English and practiced some of the German I learned in Germany when I lived there in 1999. It was great to be able to share ideas and artistic interests from people all over the world.

This is the booth I had with my original paintings and fine art prints. I like to paint in collections. Some of my collections are "A Mystical Path", "Sound of the New Sun", "Imagining the Sublime" and "Gardens of Freedom".

Right now I'm working on some miniature watercolors from the collection "Garden of Freedom" which is about dancers performing in a field of giant flowers. The dancers feel at one with nature and at times they blend into the natural background. I've always been fascinated by the metamorphosis of the live cycles of butterflies. In this collection the dancers are going through the same type of transformation.

The dancers represent our struggles in every day life. They are trying to gain some enlightenment to be able to live in their own "Garden of Eden". That "Garden of Eden" is an emotional state where people achieve balance, peace, joy and tranquility in this three-dimensional world.

I hope you enjoy the pictures of this collection. I plan on posting pictures from my other collections and share more of my experience during the weekend of the art fair.
