The architecture of those buildings is very interesting, clearly it is influenced by western architecture, with Romanesque columns and triangular façade but also clearly Japanese, with the rising sun formed in brick. The scars run deep in the North as well, a lot of their literature talks about the suffering they faced at the hands of the Japanese.
