The Annunciation Cathedral of the Sacred Virgin in Yoshkar-Ola

The church is part of the architectural ensemble of the Republic Square. Another name is square of the Sacred Virgin n Yoshkar-Ola. This brick building with 5 domes was modelled on the Cathedral of the Savior on Blood in St. Petersburg. The church is located on coast of the river Kokshagi.

The height of the temple is 74 m., building with a capacity of 2000 visitors. The facades of the building are decorated with an awesome mosaic panel and the interior decoration amazes you with beauty and luxury.

All religious services is going there. There are attended by the clergy of the city and the visiting priests. The western arch is the main place in the church. You can find the imago of the Mother of God, because the Cathedral was erected in her name. A complex composition of imago of saints led by Jesus is located out front. In the center of the church there is an altar which is made from different type of marble

On the north side is located a bell tower. The domes are covered with a very thin film of gilding of the highest standard. Precipitation, rain, snow or hail do not damage it. The domes look very beautiful in the rays of the sun. They sparkle and shimmer so bright, that they can be seen very far. At night, the green elements of the tops are illuminated by artificial lighting, which creates a fantastic effect.

Near the cathedral there are two sculptures. The first is the Mother of God with the baby Jesus in her arms. The second is the Archangel Gabriel. Both sculptures are surrounded by fountains
