Casino Monte Carlo, Monaco
It was opened in 1863, by princess Caroline, with the idea to save the house of Grimaldi from bankruptcy. This was even more the case when Menton and Roquebrune declared their independence from Monaco and stopped paying taxes.
Monte Carlo refers to the administrative area of the principality of Monaco.
It is situated on a prominent escarpment at the base of the Maritime Alps.
It's definitely worthwhile to visit Monaco.
