My Weekend In Julian, CA (Lasagna, Hiking, and Gun Slingin' Annie Oakley)

in #travel7 years ago (edited)

Hey everyone. I've been off of Steemit for a few days because I went to Julian, California to explore, eat some of the best Italian food of my life, and be a tourist. It's a very (very) small town in East San Diego area. Famous for their apple pies and small town feel.

Me and a friend went up 1200 ft gain in this great hike. The town is already at 4200 feet elevation, so we noticed the lack of oxygen pretty soon into our hike.

There was a lookout at the summit. We took a few minutes to rest after the 5 mile climb!

Our walk down the hill. I wear Vibram Five Finger toe shoes, and my feet were definitely sore after this!

This is where we went to dinner two nights in a row. It's a family owned Italian place called Romano's. It's right in downtown Julian. This was the "Chef's Special", which included a LOT of food (for only $24).  Organic chicken, eggplant parmesan, veggies, a sausage (it's hiding behind the chicken).

Then onto the best Lasagna I've ever had in my life! The cheese was so good, and there was SO MUCH RICOTTA. I'm telling you, if you live in Southern California come here just for the lasagna.

And last but not least, my friend's dog. Her name is Annie. So we took a picture of her with a hat, and she immediately became "Annie Oakley".

I hope you also had a great weekend!

Best,

Aaron

Nice photography

Thank you.

Julian is pretty, I used to gather sage out there. It's somewhat endangered, so it requires a delicate hand. but I love the sage.

Yes! On our hike I saw tons and tons of sage. It smelled so good.
