Dear Stimmians,
Today I will tell you about my sweet Sunday in Aix-en-Provence.
Aix-en-Provence is located in one of the most beautiful regions of France, Provence-Alpes-CΓ΄te d'Azur. I love this region because the climate is warm almost all year. There are 300 days of sunshine a year! it's awesome right ??? It's ideal for refilling with vitamin D and being healthy. In addition, Provencal food is excellent!
This city is known for its architecture, fountains and "calissons".
It's ranked 3rd in baroque architecture in France, after Paris and Versailles. The influential painter Paul Cezanne was born in Aix and once sat along this same central boulevard with the novelist Emile Zola, enjoying a drink at the Brasserie "Les Deux Garçons".
This place still popular with locals, celebrities, and tourists alike. I drank my black tea on this terrace in the sun, while watching people past. I love doing this and inventing stories about their lives... π.
There was an accordion player. The atmosphere was friendly and warm... πΆ πΆ πΆ πΆ
After my tea, I walked through the streets of the city, to the place of the town hall.
I love street art !!! π¨
On Sunday, the streets of the old town are lively. There was an old books market on this central place.
Among these old books, there was my favorite: "The Little Prince" by Antoine de Saint-ExupΓ©ry. This story is fantastic! for both young and old alike. It must be read! π
On this square, you can find a shop called "La Cure Gourmande". Here are some local specialties...
These pastries proudly present the local delicacy, the calissons, a jam in the form of diamond made of candied fruits and almonds. deliciousness !!!!!!
After this little gourmet break, I continued my visit.
Renowned for its hot and cold thermal waters, Aix-en-Provence has been known since antiquity for the benefits of its sources. Originally used to supply the inhabitants, fountains have become mainly decorative during the course of history. Built between the 15th and 19th centuries on average, they decorate the streets and squares of the city and become a source of freshness in summer.
La fontaine des Quatre-Dauphins
La Fontaine Du Cours Mirabeau
La Fontaine des Trois Ormeaux
To end this day, I went to visit the famous Granet museum. It's inescapable because it holds collections from the fourteenth to the twentieth century, works by Rembrandt, Ingres, CΓ©zanne and the donation of CΓ©zanne to Giacometti.
The works exhibited in this museum are truly superb. We can spend whole hours admiring them ... π
But I have to go home. My pink flamingos "Pinky" waiting for me for dinner! π π π
I hope you like this visit! See you soon for new adventures !!!!! π
