3 DAYS BACKPACKING IN SPAIN FOR BUDGET TRAVELER

in #travel7 years ago (edited)

Hello backpackers, travelers, adventure junkie, nomads, foodlovers, couplewanderer. Today I'm going to share with you my experience with my husband @cannabissativa on our trip to Spain.

DAY 1

From Charleroi in Brussels Belgium. We booked Ryan Air hence it is the cheapest one going to Girona, Spain. It will take you 2 hours and 15 minutes to get there at 7 am -9.15am. As a first time traveler to Spain, we are still exploring and wanted to budget our money.

Our main destination is Barcelona, riding a bus getting there would take you almost 2 hours for $19 . (later on, we found out that when you ride the fast speed train, you will arrive at the destination for 38 minutes with the same price)

Impressed by their architecture that is built of attractive brickwork. It is said that this place is renowned as the Gateway of Modern Barcelona in the 19th century according to Barcelona Tourism.

The structure is fascinating and welcomes you with garden, vendors and tons of monuments.

You can't believe it, we walked for 7 hours to reach these destinations, Spain never failed to surprise us and the best experience roaming around is exploring by walking.

We captured the streets, architecture, souvenir shops everywhere, damn you wouldn't be hungry coz you can see restaurants and bars everywhere. As a Filipino traveler, I was amazed to see how safe their road is.

I remember that Spanish have this so-called "siesta " which means a short nap that often starts after the midday meal. This is the time where some business establishments, bars, and restaurants are close.

No wonder while we were walking, the road isn't that crowded and seems silent. Do expect that to happen every afternoon :P

My husband wants to take me here, due tothe magnificient dancing fountain .This area has a lot to offer, awe-striking view, saw many people flocked that you can find comfort and provide a family-friendly environment.

The Color-The Music-The Moves! ROMANTIC is the word I can express in this place!

Before the fountain show, a couple of youngsters will entertain you, they are going to perform a dance exhibition! How cool is that!

The schedule starts at 20:00 or 21:00 depends on the days, you can find it HERE.

Right in front of Montjuic, this huge building looks like a Taj Mahal-inspired structure and also the architecture reminds me of the story of Greek and Roman Gods and Goddesses. Truly astonishing panoramic view catches you over the city of Barcelona. What a charming day to end as we went to our hotel almost 12 midnight! I feel inlove in Barcelona on my first day here! <3

DAY 2

The most popular food market in Spain originated way back in 1200's, One of my top 3 list and you shouldn't miss this crowded spot , the food is to die for! They offer varieties of cuisines due to its organic and fresh cooked dishes in different stalls from seafood, tapa, jamon iberico, fruit, sweets, spices and more! The place is incredibly a paradise. Unique-Adventure- Explore-Knowledge-History! Leaves you with a Wow-Factor!

We ordered Seafood Platter at Ramblero for 32 euro good for two, brunch time so we have to wait a bit hence the people are on queue, luckily we got a spot early. Highly recommend this area, happy tummy and craving satisfied!

Located in the heart of La Rambla, opening hours is from Monday to Saturday 8am to 8pm.

I urge you not to rush and experience the wonder of this place!

Getting through Barcelona by train wouldn't cost you that much to hop, usually around $3 to $6 depends on your destination.

We went to La Barceloneta and found the beach view, walk along the luxurious yacht, harbor, cable car ride to Montjuic Hill, malls, rows of restaurants and bars along the boardwalk, a refreshing scenery you want to chill out.

There is a cable car ride from La Barceloneta going to the Montjuic Hill, however, I and my husband prefer to climb up and see how it goes.
When we arrived we can see the lovely cityscape of Barcelona. We spent an hour of walking uphill to see this fantastic view. Awesome street sightseeing you can find here. Stunning to see the view from the top.

One word that comes in my mind is WOW! It is Magical, the view from afar looks like a castle. The iconic cathedral is an attraction of the city's skyline and also declared as the UNESCO World Heritage Site. The story behind this building was created by the renowned architect Anthoni Gaudi, the building symbolizes faith and the life of Jesus, from the word "Sagrada" means "The Holy Family".

It is believed that it's been under construction since 1882 in the history. There are some parts that have been renovated. No wonder when we visited this place with my husband, there are cranes around the area. We didn't get inside the church because we are on a budget and we heard a lot of reviews that the exterior is truly appealing which emphasizes the best part of the building.
Carvings on the walls that tells a lot of story behind it, the amount of detail is truly stunning and elegant.

The Sagrada Familia is just a short distance walk from the train station by taking L2 or L5. You won't missed it!

DAY 3

We passed by one of the steepest streets , most of them are pedestrian with stairs. Looking at the top, it's beautiful to enjoy the street view.

Going to the park is a pretty long walk, tons of uphill and stair climbing, however, when you come across the viewpoint, you will see the brilliant landscape of Barcelona which is breathtaking.

You can roam around the park where it is free of charge, you expect to see lovely gardens with wonderful flowers, bushes, trees, stone sculpture and some colourful houses.
We didn't buy a ticket and just walking around the park is enough, there is also a band who plays pleasant music. The place will leave you a magical feeling eventhough you are in the outside of Park Guell , you can appreciate some of the Gaudin's masterpiece.

Getting there you will notice various Street art. You will love it!

The metro is located near the Shopping Center, Restaurants and Cafes. A short walk nearby going to the magic fountain to unwind is fun.

Nice way to end our trip

So we are going back to Girona and the best way to get there is to ride a high speed train, it costs almost $19. We arrived at exactly 38 minutes. Flying to Brussels,Belgium by Ryan Airlines we need to wake up early at 4am for our flight.

Arived safely in Girona

Barcelona has been an awesome experience for both of us, this trip is so special because it is my husband's birthday gift for me. What a beautiful place that has a lot to offer, great food, great summer weather, awesome people.

Muchas gracias Espanya! We will surely come back!

Very nice post with lots of great pictures, well written and easy to approach. Haven't had the pleasure of visiting Barcelona yet unfortunately even though it's high on my bucket list when it comes to big cities (not much of a big city person normally but some places you just have to visit right?)
The church isn't being renovated, it's simply just not complete yet.. Gaudi died before he could finish his work on the church and after the Spanish civil war the construction has only gone forward thanks to private donations.

that is true i read that there are private donations , i guess some parts are renovated it seems that the back portion of the building shows the original structure which i prefer coz it gives importance to the history behind it

i wish you can visit spain wih your beautiful @iwanderela smeday :)) Spain has a lot of things to offer not only on the city area, enjoy and experience the adventure ;)
