Snowing - a family first!

in #travel8 years ago

I managed to convince my hubby to take the family on an impulsive trip to Serra de Estrela in Portugal, as the weather reports had filled me with confidence that snow was on its way. We had gone 2 months before, but alas, no falling snow, just the hard snow left over from a past storm. So him being the awesome dad and hubby that he is, he agreed. And striking while the iron was hot, I booked and paid for 3 nights accommodation!

We were not dissappointed! It was magical, white, fluffy snow all the time for 3 days. The kids went bezerk and so did we! Truly amazing!

We stayed at the Luna Hotel Serra de Estrela and the entire weekend was €250. I am aware that Portugal is not really known as a snow country and the real pro's that holiday at the ski-resorts in Italy and Austria may skoff at our little snow spot, Serra de Estrela is for me an awesome place to introduce your young family to snow. If I am not mistaken it is also cheaper that those other resorts, which makes my husband happier!
